The language of abstraction holds extraordinary power and unlimited freedom to express the authentic self. It is a beautiful and special form, an idea of profound elimination that strips away the unnecessary, yet simultaneously carries unlimited space, capturing all through forms, colors, and gestures. Abstraction is powerful in its flexibility, embracing extremes from bold to soft, light to dark, loud to quiet, and everything in between.
As the surface develops, a distinct mood emerges. The process becomes deep listening, attuning to a faint inner voice that demands sustained focus and attention. The image is restructured repeatedly, traveling across time and space until it aligns with an internal narrative. Forms take shape as thoughts crystallize, light breaks through, and colors shift until the work reaches its precise emotional register. When resistance arises between hand and mind, I push forward, driven by deep hunger, desire, and hope. It provides a powerful way to bride subjective experience and objective truth, offering freedom that remains unlimited even amid constant change.
Through the beautiful freedom of abstraction, my work creates a quiet yet insistent space, to block external noise, confront vulnerability, embrace contradiction and oddness, and discover resilience. Painting is a continual act of restructuring chaos into possibility, a hopeful, never-ending path. The underlying reality lies just beyond color and form, there to be seen and reflected back as one’s own portrait.
